Avis is one of South Africa’s leading car rental companies. Avis was experiencing major issues where vehicles were damaged and not reported costing them millions.
NPP provides integration and file storage capabilities with Avis’ LPR (License Plate Recognition) and video management platform. The NPP application processes and stores multiple images (front, sides and rear images) as vehicles leave and when the vehicle are returned. This provides Avis with before and after imagery of the vehicle and links that to the client.

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is a public university located in Bellville, in Cape Town. UWC consists of one main campus and a number of off-site residences and specialised schools. The Risk and Compliance department of UWC is responsible for all Security, Health & Safety, Emergency Responses, and Campus Protection Operations.
NPP provides for incident and investigation management. There are five Chase modules implemented at UWC, namely: Risk, Compliance, Manpower, Integration and Mobile.
Risk focusses on incident management for all incidents. They follow a process where incidents are logged via the central control room, and it’s then escalated to investigators responsible for gathering information, storing the information on Chase, and closing the investigations. Maintenance related incidents is sent through via email to the relevant department to action.
Compliance enables Campus Protection staff to conduct checks, inspections and reports whilst on patrol between all the various gates and posts. In addition, Compliance is used by the main control room and also the smaller satellite control rooms to log shift handovers, debrief meetings, and general checks related to quality control. When used via the Mobile App, the system provides mapping capability to show where and when checks were done (using the mobile device’s location services). This assists a great deal in proving presence, location, and exact time when checks were done.
The Integrator and Manpower modules were activated for UWC to track and clock in/out times of Campus Protection staff. The staff member can clock in/out via the on-site biometric fingerprint reader, and management can track clock in/out of staff. This assists in measuring hours worked and loss time.
In terms of governance, the reporting function plays a significant role in providing important data for risk management decision making and operational planning. In addition, NPP reports are presented in community safety forums which includes the local City Improvement District (CID), Metro Police, and South African Police. Statistical reports generated in the system greatly assists in measurement of criminal activity in and around the university.
